Bavarian slingshot meister Joerg Sprave obtained some corporate sponsorship to craft a supersized launcher that chews up bowling balls and spits them out with 1.2 metric tons of raw force.
Using a hand-turned crank, 36 layers of industrial strength rubber are stretched out to a scary amount of tension before sending the bowling ball-ammo along a 45-foot chute into a scrap vehicle waiting to receive Sprave’s load.
Then they up the number of rubber bands to 48 and crank the whole thing with an electric winch to see how much altitude and distance they can get– though the machine may be as dangerous to the crew as it is to the preowned Mercedes.
“Ho, Ho, Ho,” says Sprave.
