West Virginia continues to safeguard the gun rights of its citizens.

Fairfax, VA -(AmmoLand.com)-Attorney General Patrick Morrisey has advised West Virginia sheriffs that under current law, they may accept applications or renewals for a License to Carry Deadly Weapons (LCDW) by mail. AG Morrisey recognizes the importance of Second Amendment rights during these uncertain times, stating:

“While we want our residents to be safe and practice good social distancing, we also want to ensure they can still exercise their right to keep and bear arms.”

West Virginia allows law-abiding adults to carry a handgun to defend themselves without first having to pay fees or obtain government permission, but that ends at the state line. Many West Virginians still choose to get a LCDW in order to exercise their right to carry in other states that recognize West Virginia’s permit or to satisfy the background check requirement every time they buy a firearm from a dealer.

Your NRA would like to thank AG Morrisey for upholding the right of law-abiding citizens to defend themselves and their loved ones. Please check www.nraila.org/coronavirus to stay up-to-date on all Second Amendment news during COVID-19.
