Vermont -(Ammoland.com)- Dale Whitlock of Middlebury is Vermont’s State Game Warden of the Year.

A state game warden since 1996, Whitlock received the award from Governor Peter Shumlin in recognition of his excellent service on June 6 in Montpelier.

“I want to thank Dale for his outstanding performance in protecting Vermont’s fish and wildlife resources and serving the people of Vermont,” said Governor Shumlin. He added that Warden Whitlock was chosen for “his professionalism, his strong work ethic, his dedicated training of new wardens, helpful outreach with the public, and willingness to assist other law enforcement agencies.”

Lt. George Scribner, Whitlock’s supervisor, also commended him for his ability to conduct thorough investigations of hunting and fishing violations. “He is a true team player, and is always willing to drop everything to assist another warden or law enforcement colleague,” said Scribner.

“Dale also is highly respected as an exceptional communicator when working with young people, whether he is at a local school or with a hunter safety class.”
