If you hunt, fish, camp, hike or just spend time in the outdoors, it’s a good bet you carry and use a knife. Close to 100% of outdoorsmen and women carry a knife, yet perhaps fewer than 5% know how to properly sharpen one. It does take some skill to sharpen a knife, but luckily it doesn’t require a PhD.

Tom Claycomb III is a well-known outdoor writer, speaker and seminar presenter. He shares his knowledge on a number of outdoor topics with thousands of people in seminars all over the country every year. At this year’s SCI Hunters’ Convention February 1-4, 2017, in Las Vegas, Tom will again hold a seminar titled, Knife Sharpening and Choosing the Proper Knife. This seminar has become one of the more popular seminars at the convention.

In the seminar, Tom will discuss and demonstrate how to sharpen your hunting knife, knives with serrated edges and how to properly use a steel on a boning/fillet knife. Attendees will learn the basics that, with a little practice, will help them on their way to being a pro.
