Steyr SSG Carbon is Now Available in the US

What do a Formula One car, jet fighter, and Steyr‘s new SSG rifle have in common? Carbon fiber.

Steyr’s SSG Carbon, introduced at the 2014 SHOT Show, has not been available to consumers for the last 16 months due to an overwhelming demand for the rifles from law enforcement.

Now, the drought has cleared, and these SSGs are available for you to purchase across the United States.

The innovative carbon-fiber stock on the new SSG is made using a “chipped-carbon” Sheet Molding Compound construction, which is the same process used to create load-bearing structures for F1 cars and jet aircraft. This results in a light material that is superior to steel in many ways.

The SSG Carbon uses the same barreled action and muzzle brake as the SSG 08 and is based on Steyr’s Safe Bolt System. The rifle also uses Steyr’s direct trigger and features a detachable box magazine that offers two positions: one for magazine feed and one that acts as a magazine cutoff to allow single-feed shooting.
