Springfield Armory continues expanding the Saint series, launching another new edition to its AR-15 lineup in the form of the Saint Edge.
The Edge packs in even more proprietary features which the Illinois-based company says makes it the most advanced Saint model yet. Lightweight, with a slick billet machined lower receiver, the system boasts the Accu-tite tension system. A patent-pending full-length free float handguard, modular trigger system, mid-sized charging handle and new SA-Lite muzzle brake are all Springfield Armory designed.
Chambered in the ubiquitous 5.56 NATO, the Saint Edge offers a 16-inch CMV barrel that is Melonite finished inside and out with a 1:8 twist. The rifle tips scales at just over 6-pounds with a full length measuring 35.75-inches with the stock fully extended. The brand-new SA-Lite muzzle brake reduces heft with its lightweight design. Featuring extra large ports and increased surface area of the baffle plates, the SA-Lite touts itself as a “highly efficient compensator” offering reduced recoil and steady, consistent on-target shots.
