Safariland introduced two new holsters to the marketplace at SHOT Show this year. Well known for their duty holsters with level 2 and 3 retention, Safariland recognized the need to bring some of that to the CCW marketplace and they did it impressively.
The first holster is in the Safariland series and it is the model 575. The 575 looks like a simple inside the waist band holster (IWB) but it has two unique features that set it apart. The first thing that you might notice on this holster is the adjustable belt hooks. According to Bobby McGee, Director of Research and Development at Safariland, this hook “adjusts to fit 1.25, 1.5, and 1.75 inch belts.”
The second thing that will you will notice is that the holster has level 2 retention, meaning the gun will not just fall out of the holster. According to McGee this is “the GLS or Grip Locking System that keeps the gun inside the holster.” This comes in very handy for those who carry smaller guns appendix style in keeping them from falling out when bending over.
