Question of the Day: Should We Report This Comment?

TTAG’s comment section is arguably the most erudite, intelligent and informative in the gunblog-o-sphere. We’re proud that our readership (a.k.a., the Armed Intelligentsia) is so intelligent, cogent and entertaining. To maintain an open and engaging atmosphere, we only have one rule for commentators: no flaming the website, its authors or fellow commentators. Beyond that and blatantly offensive (e.g., racist) remarks, it’s Katy bar the door. We created this rule because flame wars are boring. Column inches of sound and fury signifying nothing. We also want to maintain a safe place for civilized discourse. Which TTAG is and will be. This morning, however . . .

the F-bomb sniffing WP comment filter snagged the comment above. It goes well beyond the typical dysfunctional dynamic, stepping well over the legality line into an outright threat of grievous bodily harm.

There’s a very good chance it’s nothing more than some ill-considered, intemperate keyboard commando chest-thumping (note the typical SEAL training claim and a reference to his “secret network of spies”). Normally we’d delete the comment and warn the poster. But he used a bogus email address when he wrote it and this goes well beyond the usual FOAD remark.
