President Donald Trump spoke minutes ago from the Diplomatic Room of the White House regarding the tragedy in Las Vegas when a 64-year-old man opened fire on an outdoor concert. At least 50 people were killed and over 400 were wounded.

He opened his brief remarks by saying, “We are joined together today in sadness, shock, and grief.”

Trump referred to the attack as “an act of pure evil.” He then added that the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security were on the scene and working with local law enforcement to get to the bottom of this senseless tragedy.

The president went on to thank the first responders who acted so quickly, noting that their actions were remarkable in finding the shooter as quickly as they did and reacting to stop the deadly attack.

President Trump then turned his attention to the victims of the attack. Regarding those who lost loved ones, he said, “We cannot fathom their pain.” He added, “To the wounded who are now recovering in hospitals, we are praying for your full and speedy recovery”
