Perry Traditional Academy was placed on lockdown this morning after a student who was seriously wounded in a shooting nearby ran into the high school.

Pittsburgh police and emergency crews were called to the school on Perrysville Avenue in the Perry North neighborhood at 7:54 a.m., according to Allegheny County emergency officials.

The 17-year-old male student was treated by a school nurse until paramedics arrived and he was transported to Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh Public Schools spokeswoman Ebony Pugh said. Police said he is in serious condition.

Three suspects were taken into custody shortly after the shooting, which occurred in front of Trios Market at Perrysville and Baytree Street, said Emily Schaffer, the city’s public safety spokeswoman. About a half-hour later, a fourth suspect was also taken into custody. The suspects were being questioned at police headquarters in Point Breeze.
