Austin, Texas-(Ammoland.com)- Cody Wilson has tendered his resignation as the head of Defense Distributed. Defense Distributed is the non-profit that has caused waves across the country for their 3D printed guns.

Defense Distributed announced longtime Vice-President Paloma Heindorff will replace Cody Wilson as Director of Defense Distributed and CEO of Ghost Gunner.

According to Heindorff, Wilson made the decision himself to step down although the Board of Defense Distributed supported him in that decision.

Controversy has marred Wilson since being charged with sexual assault of a sixteen-year-old he met on a “sugar daddy” website. Wilson allegedly met the sixteen-year-old and paid her $500 for sex. The age of consent in Texas is seventeen. The female in question listed her age as eighteen on the site.

Wilson left the country and traveled to Taiwan where he attempted to rent an apartment. Taiwan does not have an extradition treaty with the US due to the “one China” policy. Taiwanese officials still took Wilson into custody and deported him back to Texas where he was turned over to law enforcement officials and subsequently arrested on the charges.
