Over 80,000 Attend NRA’s Indianapolis Meeting

The 148th National Rifle Association’s Annual Meeting and Exhibits held last month in Indianapolis saw near-record attendance.
In an announcement issued Friday, the group noted that attendance at the three-day event hit 81,283, a figure larger than in nearby Louisville in 2016 which saw 80,452 visitors.
A big draw for attendees at this year’s event, besides the over 880 exhibitors and vendors at “Freedom’s Safest Place” was a promised speech by President Donald Trump, his third as chief executive.
Indiana officials estimated the meetings pumped as much as $35 million into the local economy.
Last year’s NRAAM at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas hit 87,154, a figure that beat the organization’s longstanding record from 2013. The 2017 event, held in Atlanta, saw 81,838 attendees. Prior to that, the 2015 NRAAM at Nashville’s Music City Center saw 78,865 visitors.
The meetings return to Nashville on April 16-19, 2020.
