The new President of the National Rifle Association slammed gun control advocates and said he working towards a “counterpunch” that would swell the organization’s ranks.
Selected to head the organization by the group’s 76-member Board of Directors this week, the former National Security Council staffer and conservative pundit told the Washington Times that gun control groups are ramping up their rhetoric against the NRA.
“They call them activists,” said North. “That’s what they’re calling themselves. They’re not activists — this is civil terrorism. This is the kind of thing that’s never been seen against a civil rights organization in America.” The former Fox News host went on compare the public backlash against the Second Amendment group to Jim Crow-era racial segregation efforts saying “even there you didn’t have this kind of thing.”
The plan of the day for the retired Marine combat veteran: go recruiting and mount a counterattack.
