Two off-duty officers took a little work home with them this past week when they were forced to draw their weapons and confront home intruders.

In Redding, C.A., it was an off-duty California Highway Patrol officer who doled out a bit of instant justice Sunday night from the comfort of his own home.

The Redding Police Department says officers first went to a home Sunday after receiving a call about a prowler trying break into it through the back door. The officers didn’t find the suspect.

While officers were still in the area, a call was made from a nearby home owned by a CHP officer, reporting the shooting of an unidentified person trying to break into the house.

Paramedics transported the suspect to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Early Monday morning, a home intruder picked the wrong house to break into on North Fifth Avenue in Manville, N.J. When the homeowner, an off-duty police officer, discovered the man in his home, he took aim and shot him in the chest.

Authorities say the off-duty cop and responding officers began life-saving medical treatment on the suspect, identified as 19-year-old Tyreek Cook. He was then taken to a trauma center for emergency …Read the Rest
