Today, state Representative Justin Burr introduced House Bill 817, which would repeal the antiquated, inefficient Pistol Purchase Permit (PPP) system, and instead utilize the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) for handgun transfers through licensed dealers. State Senator Jeff Tarte has already introduced his own PPP repeal, Senate Bill 503. Both chambers now have NRA-supported legislation that seeks to accomplish our top legislative priority for this session.
