Anthony Scaramucci, who was named White House communications director on Friday, donated to former President Barack Obama’s presidential campaign in 2008, federal records show.

President Donald Trump’s job offer to Scaramucci — a financier and a former Fox Business Network host — reportedly led to the resignation of White House press secretary Sean Spicer.

According to data from the Federal Election Commission, Scaramucci donated $2,300 to Obama for America in May 2008.

Scaramucci, 53, additionally donated $28,500 to the Democratic National Committee in October 2008, as well as another $28,500 to the Obama Victory Fund.

CBS News reported that Scaramucci, a Long Island, New York, native, worked for Goldman Sachs before founding the investment firm SkyBridge Capital, which he later sold to a Chinese company. He was most recently the chief strategy officer and senior vice president at the Ex-Im Bank.
