Nebraska’s Fort Hartsuff to Host Historic Firearms Display on Oct. 3-4

Nebraska -(Ammoland.com)- Fort Hartsuff State Historic Park will host The Timeline of American Military Firearms, 1860-1990 on Oct. 3-4.

The event will be held in conjunction with the Grand Army of the Frontier (GAF). GAF members dressed in period uniforms will use a collection of original and reproduction firearms to explain the development of the American military firearms. It will include firearms from the Civil War through Operation Desert Storm.

Col. Jerry Davenport, Department of the Missouri Commander, and Lt. Col. Dale Beethe will speak with fort visitors and answer questions about the firearms. In addition, the pair will present an in-depth look at the evolution of military firearms on Oct. 3 at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. and on Oct. 4 at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Edith Robbins, a scholar specializing in the experiences of German emigrants to the United States, will present The Little Dutchman’s Civil War at 2 p.m. on Oct. 4. The talk is sponsored in part by the Nebraska Humanities Council and Friends of Fort Hartsuff.
