Constitutionalists and gun rights proponents enjoyed a significant victory in the struggle to protect their 2nd Amendment rights on Thursday when a three judge panel on the 6th US Circuit Court of Appeals of Cincinnati unanimously ruled a federal ban on gun ownership for those formerly committed to a mental institution unconstitutional.

Under the federal ban, convicted felons, minors, illegal aliens, drug addicts as well as those formerly committed to mental institutions are barred from lawfully purchasing a firearm.
