MDF Applauds Passage of Permanent Conservation Easement Tax Incentive

Salt Lake City, UT -(AmmoLand.com)- On Friday, Dec. 18, the Mule Deer Foundation (MDF) applauded congressional passage of the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes(PATH) Act, which permanently extends enhanced and expanded tax deductions for donations of conservation easements.

A longstanding legislative priority for MDF, permanent authorization of the deductions will be a powerful tool for creating and protecting mule deer habitat on private lands. The President is expected to sign the legislation into law.

Since first being enacted in 2006, the enhanced deductions have increased donations of conservation easements by a third – allowing for the conservation of critical watersheds, wildlife habitat and working lands, including farms and timberlands.

“The Mule Deer Foundation can’t overemphasize how much we appreciate the large bipartisan coalition of members of Congress who have been relentless in supporting permanent authorization of these enhanced deductions. History will judge this as one of America’s most important achievements on behalf of private lands conservation and America’s sportsmen’s heritage,” said MDF President Miles Moretti.
