A high school in Maryland went into lockdown Tuesday after a reported shooting, local officials said.
St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Department confirmed around 9 a.m. via social media an incident at Great Mills High School in Lexington Park.
The school district instructed parents to pick up children from nearby Leonardtown High School with identification in hand. Counselors will also be available.
St. Mary’s County Sheriff spokeswoman Cpl. Julie Yingling told the Associated Press three people were injured, including the shooter, and were all taken to local hospitals for recovery. No fatalities have been reported so far.
“Students are being evacuated from GMHS and being bused to the reunification center at the Leonardtown HS campus,” the St. Mary’s County Public School District tweeted. “The building is orderly and the Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation. We will continue to update as more information becomes available.”
