U.S.-backed Iraqi forces in Mosul this week showed off a captured fleet of almost two dozen up-armored Kias and commercial trucks formerly used by Islamic State units in the area.
In addition to the Reuters report above, Czech media outlet RFE/RL posted an extensive photo essay to their social media on the improvised vehicles, which may have been intended for one-way missions.
“The 23 vehicles were mostly civilian cars, covered in thick metal armor and featuring small glass ports for the suicide attacker to see through,” said the post.

Iraqi forces, still conducting mopping up operations, plan to destroy the vehicles. Either way, they are upgrades to the wooden and cardboard tanks captured last year.
