U.S.A.-(Ammoland.com)- Larry Vickers, retired US Army 1st SFOD- Delta combat veteran, and firearms community advisor for CCW Safe, talks about his thoughts on sights for handguns and carbines.

In a gunfight, expect to have your focus on the bad guy, you’re most likely not going to be looking at your sights, but that doesn’t mean that you won’t see them, or be looking through them.

In Larry’s opinion, you need somethign that is going to jump out at you, and for that reason, he likes the HD sights by Ameriglo or Trijicon. HD sights have a bright green/yellow option, or a orange or red and green option. Fiber optic sights are great in sunlight, but in low light or night scenarios, they may not work for you. All black sights as well, in low light, they may be useless to you.

Again, those who have been involved in shootings will know that they probably never remember looking at their sights, but that doesn’t mean that you won’t look through them for target alignment.

In reference to carbines, without a doubt, Larry thinks you should use a red dot, and of course he is parital to Aimpoint.
