Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush slammed President Barack Obama ahead of his planned executive action on gun control and accused the president of taking away the rights of U.S. citizens.

Bush, a Republican presidential candidate, said he had not reviewed Obama’s planned executive action during an appearance on “Fox News Sunday.” Obama plans to meet on Monday with Attorney General Loretta Lynch to discuss options for tighter gun control, such as expanding background checks.

“His first impulse always is to take rights away from law-abiding citizens, and it’s wrong,” Bush said. “And to use executive powers he doesn’t have is a pattern that is quite dangerous.”

“It’s not a surprise that people don’t believe the government is not working on their behalf anymore when you have a president that recklessly uses executive authority that the Constitution doesn’t provide him,” Bush continued.

According to CNN, those familiar with Obama’s plans have called his executive action “imminent.” Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump promised to “unsign” the executive action while at a campaign rally Saturday night in Mississippi.
