How Bad is Crime in Chicago? Police Search for Armed 6-Year-Old Robbery Suspect

If you thought Chicago’s gun problem couldn’t possibly get any more insane, you’re not going to believe this story.

On Saturday, July 8, 2017, Chicago Police issued an incredulous community alert from detectives warning Near South Side residents of an unlikely robbery crew of suspects that includes “a 6- to 8-year-old boy” armed with a silver handgun.

The suspects committed at least 11 armed robberies in June in which they traveled in groups of 3-9 armed robbers and approached victims; either demanding valuables or taking property by force before fleeing the scene.

The alert describes the gang of robbery suspects as “Male, Black, 6-20” years of age, but includes information from one of their most recent robbery on June 28, 2017, that included a “six- to eight-year-old black male offender” who displayed a “silver handgun and demanded money”.

Currently, Chicago has racked up an impressive tally of 1,936 citizens shot so far in 2017 as the city’s Clearance Rate sits at a dismal 13.7%, which does little to deter kindergartners from arming themselves to rob unsuspecting citizens.

Way to go, Chicago.
