Hi-Point Firearms Temporarily Shuts Down

Ohio-based Hi-Point Firearms announced Tuesday they have chosen to voluntarily shut down and perform preventative work for a week.
The budget gun maker, centered in the Dayton area since 1995, is currently exempt from closure requirements under the state’s COVID-19 stay-at-home orders but has elected to close its doors briefly to allow Hi-Point employees time off to self-quarantine and be with their families.
“We are all on a steep learning curve, but we will win this thing– Americans are winners, always have been! ” said Hi-Point in a statement. “We the people will pull through this mess. So, from all of us at Hi-Point Firearms and MKS Supply, LLC, please use care, stay isolated, keep clean, enjoy the new adventure, and god bless.”
The company is set to re-open its facility on April 6.
Hi-Point is not the only U.S. gun maker feeling the pinch. So far this month, CZ-USA, Dan Wesson, Kimber, and Remington have all met with a curtailment of their operations, although primarily chalked up to being classified as “non-essential” businesses by their local or state
