Georgia Department of Natural Resources logoSOCIAL CIRCLE, Ga. -(Ammoland.com)- This past weekend, the 2017 Southeastern Youth Clay Target Combine took place at the Palmetto Shooting Complex in Edgefield, South Carolina.

This multi-state shotgun event allowed top varsity squads from Georgia, South Carolina and Mississippi to compete and represent their state.

Participating schools brought together 144 varsity student-athletes, making up 48 squads, from the Independent School Associations found within the three states. Each participant shot 100 total targets across three different shotgun disciplines: sporting clays, skeet, and trap.

The 2017 Southeastern Youth Clay Target Combine was tailored to grow shooting sports programs in the Southeast and simultaneously provide young student-athletes the opportunity to compete outside of state lines.

The event was created by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Resources Division, working together with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks.

All participating student-athletes were required to have successful completion and certification from their state Hunter Education Program.
