Authorities are investigating an incident at a home in Zephyrhills, Florida, Saturday night that left one man dead and one woman – his ex-girlfriend – claiming she killed the man in self-defense.
Alejandrina Guinn, 38, said Frank Harrison, 45, had been threatening her before he showed up at her home armed with a rifle just before 10:30 p.m. Before Harrison could enter the home, however, Guinn shot him with a handgun.
Harrison died from his injuries and, thus far, Guinn has not been charged. Authorities say at this point it appears to be a case of self-defense, but stressed that the investigation is ongoing. Police said the encounter was captured on surveillance video, which has not been released.
Records indicate Harrison is a convicted felon with an extensive criminal history and was out of prison less than a year at the time of the shooting.
Harrison’s convictions included armed robbery and multiple drug charges. He was also charged with third-degree murder in 2003 after he shot 23-year-old Shane Lani Sampson in the stomach with a shotgun at a duplex where Guinn lived at the time. Harrison claimed the shooting was not intentional.
