Monday, June 12, 2017, marked the one-year anniversary of the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando, Florida, which left 49 dead and dozens more injured. To honor the victims, Machine Gun America, a “shooting attraction” in Kissimmee, FL, offered a free firearms training course to help empower those who were left feeling helpless following the attack.
Marc Adler, president of the company, told News 96.5 WDBO that several of his staff members were directly affected by the attack and wanted to do something to give back to the community.
“We all sat down and decided that the best thing we can do is to promote education,” said Adler.
Scott Bryan, who works at Machine Gun America, similarly told WFTV, “What we want to do is provide an education to where if there is something that goes wrong—whether it’s workplace violence or whether it’s terrorism or these shootings—you’ll at least have the education to where you can empower yourself.”
The free, five-hour training course took place Saturday, June 17. Another session is being offered Saturday, June 24. If you’re interested and live in the area, note that space is very limited.
