I love father-daughter bonding time and I love armed citizen tales with a happy ending, so this story from Salina, Kansas checks a lot of boxes for me. It all starts with a man breaking through the door of Ron Griffin’s home the other night.

Ron, “Rodeo” Griffin says he noticed the man who broke into his home was bleeding from his foot . Griffin tried to talk to the man who said he was running away from someone.

Griffin says it wasn’t until the intruder closed his door and attempted to lock it that he felt threatened. He asked his 12-year-old daughter to grab his gun to protect them.

“I (told) him, ‘don’t come any closer this way because I will shoot you,’” Griffin says.

Griffin is 63-years old, and recovering from quadruple bypass surgery. In a one-on-one fistfight, he might not have been able to take on the intruder. Armed with his legally owned gun, however, he was able to hold the suspect at bay. In fact, his 12-year old daughter Macy says they were prepared for something like this.
