Recently released surveillance video from a bank in Rockford, Illinois, shows the dramatic moments when a security guard fatally shot a would-be robber.
The suspect, Laurence Turner, walked into the Alpine Bank on Jan. 20 wearing a mask and armed with a gun. Turner took two shots – one in the ceiling and one at the security guard – before the guard, Brian Harrison, opened fire, striking Turner multiple times.
The entire exchange lasted less than 15 seconds.
Turner, who was the suspect in three other robberies and said to have been on drugs at the time, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Winnebago County State’s Attorney Joe Bruscato announced Tuesday that Harrison would not face charges for Turner’s death.
