HOUSTON, TEXAS — Right off the bat, I need to make something perfectly clear; there is no valid reason to meet up with someone to buy a PlayStation at 10 pm in the parking lot of an apartment complex.

You’re asking for trouble, and trouble is exactly what this armed citizen received.

Police say a 46-year-old man was waiting in his car in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Greens Parkway around 10 p.m. Tuesday.

He told investigators that a man wearing a mask walked up and pointed a rifle at him, so he pulled out his own gun and started shooting because he thought he was going to get robbed.

The suspect with the rifle was shot and killed by the concealed carrier.

The whole concept of arranging an in-person meeting to buy and sell goods can be a great thing, but we need to be smart about things and make sure we aren’t putting ourselves in unnecessary situations.
