Democratic lawmaker vows not to participate in moment of silence for Las Vegas victims

What’s the story?

Rep. Seth Moulton (D-Mass.) said on Twitter Monday morning that he will not participate in a moment of silence for the victims of Sunday night’s shooting in Las Vegas along with his colleagues on the House floor, because it is an “excuse for inaction.”

As after #Orlando, I will NOT be joining my colleagues in a moment of silence on the House Floor that just becomes an excuse for inaction.

What action is he calling for?

As he did after the 2016 Orlando Pulse nightclub shooting, Moulton is calling for Congress to pass more gun control legislation.

Thinking of everyone in #LasVegas, and praying Congress will have the courage to do more than stand in silence to commemorate them.
