A man wearing a gas mask robbed a Vancouver convenience store at gunpoint just before dawn Wednesday.

An employee was with his friend at the Circle K near 4th Plain Boulevard and Grand Avenue when the suspect came into the store at 4:45 a.m.

They told police the man pointed a gun at the clerk, eventually leaving with some cash.

The employee’s friend took out his own firearm and followed the suspect outside, police said.

The suspect turned around and pointed his gun at the man, who in turn fired several shots at the suspect. Officials aren’t sure if the suspect was hit.

Police said a driver was waiting for the suspect in a white, mid-90’s Honda Accord 2-door car.

Witnesses described the suspect as a white man, between 18 and 25 years old, around 5-foot 7-inches tall. He was last seen wearing a black leather jacket, blue jeans, and a gas mask according to KATU.
