Calling out a pol's Second Amendment shenanigans

Congressman Vern Buchanan (FL-16)I have nothing but disdain for most politicians. They lie. They spin. They’ll sell you out in a New-York minute if it benefits them. You certainly can never trust one. Most of the time I simply ignore their political nonsense. I’m usually too busy to engage. However, when they wrap themselves in the Second Amendment or tout their pro-gun record, I pay attention, especially if it is not deserved. Congressman Vern Buchanan (FL-16) is just such a pol. He recently sent a blast email touting his alleged pro-gun views. This is a problem, because when it comes to our gun rights, Vern is about as reliable as a $10 Rolex. It wasn’t that long ago — February 2019 to be exact — that Vern had a different view of our right to keep and bear arms. In fact, he was one of only eight Republicans to vote in favor of the so-called Bipartisan Background Checks Act.For those of you who don’t remember the bill, the Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2019 would have criminalized all private firearm sales, requiring every transfer to go through a dealer and background check.
