A Protection Order Is Just A Piece Of Paper; Real Life Edition

GANS, OKLAHOMA — When seconds count, police are minutes away. And when a piece of paper is served in the form of a protection order, it’s only a piece of paper. Luckily for this woman, she knew this fact and was ready to defend herself when her ex came knocking.

The Sequoyah County Sheriff said the woman had a protection order against the man and there is a domestic violence history between the two.

Investigators said the woman told them the man was intoxicated, agitated and raised his fist to hit her.

The woman shot the man in the chest, and there really aren’t anymore details that were made available at this point. Police are still investigating.

What we do know, however, is that a protection order was in place, so we can assume with some certainty that he wasn’t supposed to be near her, and that she felt her life was in danger.
