In the wake of the July 17 attack that left three law enforcement officers dead in Baton Rouge, there has been a monumental outpouring of donations to the Baton Rouge Area Foundation’s First Responders Fund.

Of the $500,000 goal, a total of $177,250 has been raised, as of writing this article.

While all donations are appreciated, there was one that stood out: A total of $2,200 that came from an 8-year-old boy and his lemonade stand.

Benjamin Chiasson opened his lemonade stand with Baton Rouge first responders in mind.

“I just wanted to raise money for the officers, and this is one thing I decided to do,” Chiasson told WBRZ News.

“I thought that he would raise about $200 and I would be excited and proud of him, but we just dropped off $2,200,” Benjamin’s mom, Laurie told WBRZ News.
