A 34-year-old convicted felon from Mobile was sentenced in an Alabama court Monday to 92 months in prison for multiple gun and drug-related charges.
Following his more than seven-year prison term, Jhordis Deshon Woods, 34, who also goes by the name Jhondis Desiion Woods, will be required to complete five years of supervised released, the Justice Department announced.
Woods was charged in September 2016 with two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking crime, to which he pleaded guilty in December.
The charges came as a result of an investigation by the Mobile Police Department Narcotics and Vice Unit. In May 2016, the department arranged for four controlled buys of marijuana from Woods. After the transactions, a search warrant was obtained and executed at Woods’ apartment.
According to court documents, authorities found two semiautomatic handguns, namely, a Ruger .45-caliber pistol and a Springfield .40-caliber XD-40. Authorities also recovered cash and more marijuana.
Woods’ prior criminal history, which includes numerous felonies, prohibits him from legally possessing firearms or ammunition. Woods’ prior convictions included two counts of robbery in 2002, felony possession of marijuana, and possession of
