Arizona -(Ammoland.com)- Thousands of Arizona deer hunters have had Oct. 23 circled on their calendars since hunt permit-tags were mailed back in August.

That’s the date when the first of the general deer hunts begins in many game management units statewide. A total of 43,326 hunt permit-tags were issued in 2015, an increase of 1,151 over last year (42,175) and the most since 2011 (43,716).

The number of first-choice applicants – 83,157 – is 11,833 more than the number that applied in 2014 (71,324) and represents the most since 2006, when 85,534 filled out an application for the random draw.

So what can hunters expect when they take to the field this weekend, particularly after storms in recent weeks that have affected several parts of the state?
