Woman In Wheelchair Scares Off Burglar By Showing Him Her Gun

CLEVELAND, OH — One wheelchair-bound woman was extremely glad to have been responsibly-armed when a knife-wielding man came marching toward her home.

“It was last Monday morning around 10:30,” Melinda Vandal told Fox 8 Cleveland.

“I looked at the door and there was a man, right there, right outside looking like he was going for my door.”

She also saw another man cutting the screen of a window of her garage.

She didn’t hesitate. According to Fox 8 Cleveland, she called the police and grabbed her handgun.

“I put the gun up to the window of the door and I yelled, ‘get off my property,’” she said.

That did the trick.

The suspects, not wanting anything resembling a fair fight, dropped a knife and ran for the hills.

The suspects were still at large at the time of Fox 8 Cleveland’s report.

Vandal is still upset by the matter. “It’s hard for me to relax or sleep because I keep seeing his face,” she said.

She said that she is now keeping her firearm close by.

It’s never something that we as carriers can bank on, but sometimes the intimidation of a firearm really will be all that is needed to eliminate a threat.
