In 2009, Governor Bobby Jindal signed the NRA-endorsed, “Annual Louisiana Second Amendment Weekend Holiday Act,” which provides an exemption from state and local sales and use taxes on purchases of firearms, ammunition and hunting supplies on the first Friday through Sunday each September. Since then, the sales tax holiday has proven its merit by boosting local businesses and saving law-abiding gun owners and sportsmen tens-of-thousands of hard-earned dollars.
