In Australia, hunting guns are some of the few weapons you can legally own, and the anti-hunting/gun groups are upset. Check out this ad they did:

“No recreational hunter at any level would take out the mother and a joey in the pouch, as depicted in the image, even though culling of kangaroos exists under controlled circumstances.”

Mr Bryant said most Australians eat meat but many don’t seem to want to take responsibility for taking an animal’s life – a stance he believes is founded in ignorance and denial.

“Hunting has been part of Australia’s tradition, effectively since day dot, to get a feed on the table – organic free-range harvested meat,” he said.

So let me ask those animal-lovers that only eat ugly animals, are you OK with recreational slaughterhouses? Recreational pate-de-fois gras which is created by force-feeding a duck? Recreational fishing? Because let’s face it, “catch and release” is not how most fishermen fish, and even if you release the animal, you still managed to impale it with a hook.
