Hillary Clinton is once again calling for stricter gun laws, this time after a mass killing at a Santa Fe, Texas, high school that left 10 dead. On Friday, Clinton tweeted that the crime should inspire “soul searching” and legislation to deal with this “national shame.”

Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott also called for action — although he did not specify what — following the tragedy.

Clinton also did not suggest any particular gun controls. In the past, however, she has supported a ban on assault weapons and high capacity magazines. She has also called for universal background checks and laws to prevent mentally ill people from owning guns.

None of these measures would have stopped the Santa Fe killings, however, as the suspect used a his father’s .38 Special revolver and a shotgun. Both were legally owned by the suspect’s father.

It is not the first time Clinton has made a push for gun control following a high-profile crime involving firearms.

In the past, Clinton, who has earned an F rating from the NRA, has said she wants legislation that restricts gun ownership for people with mental illnesses.
