The folks at IWI have been importing some cool stuff from the Holy Land over the last few years, from th Tavor rifle to the new Galil ACE pistols that are the hot new ticket this year. Apparently in all of the rush to get the product to market they overlooked one very important fact: the firearms they were shipping were actually machine guns.

No, the guns won’t fire full auto as-is. But the ATF has declared that any firearm receiver drilled with the infamous “third hole” designed for the auto sear (both in the AK series and AR series) is a de facto “machine gun” and needs to be regulated as such. The firearms that have come into the country so far appear to have accidentally drilled with this third hole, and IWI claims that as soon as they noticed the issue they notified the ATF and issued the following recall notice to distributors:

To whom it may concern:

Following our email of yesterday, we are instituting a recall of all GAP39 pistols.

Please pack up and return all GAP39 firearms in your inventory to IWI US. You can ship freight collect (YRC preferred).
