The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) is planning to create a large, new shooting range facility in Payson, Utah, south of Salt Lake City. The plans include are a long-distance rifle range, an XTC/Mid-range zone, a smallbore (rimfire) range, and pistol ranges. All these ranges will have electronic targets. The main long-distance rifle sector will include electronic targets at 800, 900, and 1000 yards.
In addition — take note ELR fans — there will be another shooting area stretching out to a full one mile where K02M-style targets can be used. There are even plans to have an area for PRS/NRL competition.
The CMP’s objective for the CMP West facility is to create a large, state-of-the-art marksmanship center similar to Talladega, but even bigger in acreage. At this time the project is still pending Federal Bureau of Land Management (BLM) approval, but Utah and the local Payson community have been very welcoming.

High Power, Service Rifle, Palma, and other matches will be held on the new CMP range situated near Payson, Utah, south of Salt Lake City and Provo.
