The Wyoming House advanced three pro-gun bills on Monday, reports the Casper Star Tribune. The three bills – HB 136, HB 137 and HB 194 – aim to expand concealed carry in the state and limit gun free zones.

House Bill 136 would allow anyone with a concealed carry permit to legally carry on a public college or university campus – or within any of its facilities – without obtaining written consent from that college or university’s security service.

The bill was reportedly debated for hours. However, those in favor of the bill argued that students, staff and faculty need to be able to protect themselves from mass shooters who are not going to obey the campuses’ firearm restrictions, and ultimately won over the House.

“People may think they’re safe, but they are not,” said Representative Bo Biteman, one of the bill’s sponsors.

The second bill up for consideration, House Bill 137, also known as the Wyoming Repeal Gun Free Zones Act, would allow those with a concealed carry permit to carry a firearm into government meetings and into the Wyoming Legislature.
