By gunwriter If you watch hunting TV any at all you have probably had about all you can stand of hunters in box blinds watching food plots. That’s not the way I really like to hunt but there are times it can be a good idea. Like when you are trying to get one of your kids their first deer. Food plots are also a great way to maximize the draw of small acreage hunting properties. We have a camp in the panhandle of West Virginia with lots of land to hunt but here at home we live and hunt on only 50 acres. A good food plot helps us draw deer in from the neighbor’s land. The key is to plant the food plot in the right way and to plant the right stuff. This means you need to forget the ATV ground breaking instruments and utilize a tractor.
