It may be President Barack Obama’s final year in the White House, but the American people can expect “audacious executive action” throughout this next year, White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough promised.

Speaking to reporters Tuesday prior to the president’s final State of the Union address, McDonough said Obama is not finished with his job even though he’s in the final stretch, according to National Review.

McDonough said, “We’ll do audacious executive action over the course of the rest of the year, I’m confident of that,” National Review reported.

“Process is your friend, but process also dictates what you can do,” he continued. “And we do want to make sure that the executive actions we undertake are not left hanging out there, subject to Congress undoing them.”

National Review reported that Obama is considering executive actions on a variety of issues — not just immigration reform and closing Guantanamo Bay. McDonough said Obama has to ask himself “why not” when it comes to which executive orders he wants to see through during the final year of his presidency.
