What’s The Longest You’ve Gone Without A Trip To The Range?
Regular practice with a firearm is important, especially if you’re carrying it. Accurately shooting your firearm is a perishable skill, and one can’t afford to slump on training, even if it’s in the form of some quick trips to the range.
With that said, most of us lead busy lives. Time is somewhat limited, and we can get into a habit of not making it to the range.
The longest I’ve gone without range time, since shooting of course, is 3 months. It was during a time where the holidays collided with a move from the top of the east coast to the bottom, and things were just crazy busy.
Even after 3 months, I had to get back into the groove of things. It might not seem like a lot of time to some, but it does effect things, even if only for a moment.
It got me thinking though; if it takes someone firing a magazine-full to get back into the feel, that’s enough to remind us that staying in that groove is important. Especially if we’re carrying, we want to be ready with the first trigger pull.
I may be slightly over-exaggerating, but it’s still a point.
