Shockingly, the suspect, later identified as Ismail Hamed, turned out to allegedly have ties to terrorism networks. “A complaint filed by the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office alleges Hamed “intentionally or knowingly, did provide advice, assistance, direction or management” to the terrorist organization ISIS, which is listed under several formal names, including the Islamic State of Iraq al-Sham,” said a report by azcentral.com.

The incident began when Hamad reportedly called 911 asking to speak to law enforcement. “He told operators he had a knife and some rocks,” according to azcentral.com.

Officer body cam footage shows an officer, later identified as Sgt. Brandon Wells, arrive on scene and begin talking with Hamad in a parking lot. The video shows Hamad say he wants to discuss “political issues.” During the beginning of the encounter, Hamad clearly keeps one hand hidden in the front pocket of his sweatshirt.
