Tips Safer Suspect Searches lead

A K-9 deputy in Florida managed to successfully talk down an armed and suicidal suspect while he and his dog were getting stung by yellow jackets. Watch the video above to see it all go down.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office says the incident began when deputies responded to a domestic violence call in the town of Weirsdale. Upon arrival at the home, they learned that the suspect—28-year-old Sean T. Shea—had beaten and strangled a female victim and fled the home. K-9 Deputy Jeremie Nix and his K-9, named Drago, were able to track and find Shea in a wooded area nearby.

Shea told Nix he was armed with a gun and a knife and threatened to commit suicide. According to the AP, he held a box cutter to his throat. But Nix managed to start a dialogue with Shea, eventually convincing him to turn himself in peacefully. As it turns out, Shea didn’t have a gun.
